Dirk is a man of letters. He’s a retired MLB pitcher, a NYTBS author, earned an MBA, and is PMP-certified.

Dirk Hayhurst turns data into insight, and insight into impact. As FSM’s Digital Marketing expert, Dirk helps to advance client’s business objectives by providing them with clear digital marketing strategy, tactics, and measurement.

A Canton native, Dirk came to FSM with a not-so-typical background: New York Times bestselling author, Major League Baseball pitcher, Emmy-nominated broadcaster, and plenty of other interesting biographical chapters.

Dirk earned an M.B.A from Kent State University in 2016 after writing four memoirs about his experiences in professional baseball. Rarely have we had so much background information on a job candidate at FSM! He manages search, social, and digital ad campaigns, and guides our certified Google Ad Grants management program, helping nonprofit clients secure and maximize free Google advertising.

Energetic and always ready to pivot, Dirk recognizes two key tenets to this business.

One – digital marketing requires aggressive proactivity (an assertion embodied in one of his favorite quotes: “Do not wait to strike ’til the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.”

Two –  we must be super entrepreneurial in our willingness to try things – and if it doesn’t work – keep trying. (“A good rule for rocket experimenters to follow is this: always assume that it will explode.”)
