Can you expand on what a People Operations Manager is and how that’s different from HR?
I’m glad you asked! Typical HR roles are focused on meeting compliance and solving problems when they come up. People Operations (or Peep Ops, as I like to call it) is more focused on being proactive and building a really great place for people to work. HR is a lot of putting out fires, but People Operations is more so imagining how things can get better and better.
What are some of your biggest accomplishments at FSM?
Building up the recruitment process is a big one. Being able to look around the office at so many amazing experts and say, “I helped bring those people in,” is a great feeling to have. And increasing benefits is another accomplishment—not to brag, but we have a pretty amazing package!
What’s your spirit core value?
I would have to say Furiosity™ for sure. A lot of my growth has come from approaching my job with Furiosity. Especially in People Operations, my role changes so much, I’m always learning, and I love embracing that and being able to make an impact in different ways.
Since you’re a hockey fan, what’s worse: A vague, last-minute time off request or your hockey team losing?
It’s gotta be my hockey team losing. I can’t get on the ice for my team! I can at least navigate time-off requests—but no amount of screaming in the stands is going to help my hockey team win.
